Audit History

Track every modification, scan, and change across your DNS infrastructure with a complete audit trail.

The Audit History section provides a comprehensive audit trail of everything that happens across your DNS infrastructure. Every DNS modification, every scan, and every detected change is recorded — giving you full visibility for security reviews, compliance reporting, and troubleshooting.

It's split into three pages, each covering a different aspect of the audit trail:

  • Modification Log — tracks every DNS modification operation sent to your providers (deletes, restores, SPF additions)
  • Scan History — shows every scan conducted across your infrastructure with change summaries
  • Change Log — a chronological record of every change detected, including changes made outside DNS Watchdog

How they relate

The three logs work together to give you a complete picture:

  1. Scan History shows when scans ran and how many changes were found
  2. Change Log shows what changed — click "View results" on any scan to see its changes
  3. Modification Log shows what you did — every write operation DNS Watchdog sent to a provider

Together, they answer questions like "What changed overnight?", "Did my deletion go through?", and "Who triggered that rescan?".
